Britsburgh, a local British cultural club, put together their first of what I hope will be many fun
Guy Fawkes Day celebrations. It took place in the impressive stables of the Hartwood Acres mansion. They had a lot of neat traditional games for kids, and yummy food, English toffee, and even an Indian food cart (of course!). Visitors were invited to help stuff the Guy with straw, then parade him to a bonfire and watch them set it on fire. The man who put the Guy together was pretty amazing to watch; he really knew what he was doing. Fireworks unfortunately were not permitted at the historic estate, but the atmosphere was so perfect there that it more than made up for it. My son Jasper and I really enjoyed this opportunity to learn firsthand about this interesting celebration!
