National Aquarium

There are lots of great things to see in Baltimore, and the National Aquarium is definitely a must. We had brought Jasper to the aquarium with family when he was a toddler, and although he certainly didn't remember it, it made a big impression on us adults. This was our first chance to return, and we were glad we did.
I love the bizarre horseshoe crab, and I was thrilled that they had some babies in a tank and adults in a touch pool, along with some charming rays. They also had a special exhibit of jellyfish, which is a sure way to my heart. I find them exquisitely alien and beautiful. The National Aquarium is on Baltimore's Inner Harbor, so there are lots of great things in walking distance. Right next to the Aquarium is the USS Constellation, built in 1854, well preserved and open for tours. Also there are groovy sea serpent shaped paddle boats all lined up and ready for rentals. Amusingly, they are named "Chessies" to honor both the Loch Ness Monster and the Chesapeake Bay at the same time.
