Kayak Pittsburgh
Kayak Pittsburgh is a service of Venture Outdoors, a nonprofit that seeks to give yinz a chance to connect with the beautiful outdoors. We tried it and had a blast! It's great exercise, and you get a really different perspective by seeing Pittsburgh from the water.
They have three locations; on North Park Lake, in Aspinwall, and their North Shore location, which is actually directly under the Roberto Clemente Bridge. They rent solo and tandem kayaks by the hour, with life jackets included. Kids 3-12 must paddle tandem with an adult. You leave a driver's license and you pay upon your return for the hours you used, so you don't necessarily have to decide in advance how long you want to paddle. Their calendar also lists a bunch of neat guided kayak adventures. We rented from the North Shore location and paddled around the Point, which of course is a popular and scenic route. We went on a weekday when there were no games scheduled, and although I had a list of nearby parking lots, we were able to find metered street parking right there with no problem. They have lockers if you want to leave your valuables while you paddle.

Their Aspinwall location will end their season on Labor day, but the other two locations will be open daily (weather permitting) through September and weekends through October. Don't miss out!
