Raccoon Creek (Week 3)

On April 10, my son and I headed back to Raccoon Creek State Park Wildflower Reserve to see what we could see. This week, not much was blooming, but LOTS of flowers were budding... so the big bloom is just on the horizon!
Golden ragwort's vivid purple buds were plentiful. They will soon give way to vivid yellow flowers. Virginia bluebells were also budding in great abundance. Dutchman's breeches were budding and just beginning to bloom. This unusual flower does not so much "open" as grow and expand. We also spotted some scarlet elf cup, fungi that like late winter and early spring weather.
