Cherry Blossoms

I stopped by North Park today to see if the cherry trees were in bloom. They have been planted and tended for many years by the Pittsburgh Sakura Project.  I was in luck!
They are just starting to bloom, in patches. There's a small patch of trees in full bloom over by the tennis courts (near the boathouse on Pearce Mill Dr.). And there are many more trees still budding that will be blooming in the coming days. **Update: It turns out the trees were planted in small "groves" of specific varieties that all have different bloom times, as well as different blossoms. So they will be a delight for many weeks to come. Here's a schedule of when each is expected to bloom and where to look for them: https://www.pennsylvasia.com/2020/04/sakura-in-north-park.html. They were breathtaking! Here are some pictures.
